ROMANO AND BROCK
GIVE RON SUTTON’S WINNER’S CIRCLE A MODIFIED 1-2
SACRAMENTO,
CALIFORNIA (August 4, 2010) – Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle Modified team brought home a huge 1-2
finish in Saturday night’s NASCAR-sanctioned races at All American
Speedway in Roseville, Calif with Nik Romano and Josh Brock leading
the pack.
For the 19
year-old Nik Romano of
Atherton,
Calif.,
the win marked his second of his 2010 rookie season. Romano is in
his third season in the RSWC program after winning the 2008 Formula
Ford and 2009 USAC Ford Focus championships.
Corbin,
Kentucky’s
Josh Brock is a new member of the Ron Sutton program after
succeeding in the driver shootout last fall. Brock was the
recipient of the K&N Filters scholarship and drives the K&N Filters
Modified.
With the guidance
of new crew chief Scott Rogers, Romano started off the evening with
a sixth place qualifying run at 14.158 seconds around the one-third
mile asphalt oval. Romano followed that up with impressive wins in
both his heat race and the trophy dash.
Brock timed in
third on the board with a 14.065 second effort, missing out on the
pole position by just .090 seconds. Brock started fourth in the
main event.
Starting on the
pole, Romano led the 21 car field to green for the 40 lap feature.
Romano got out to an early lead and maintained that advantage while
Brock raced into third. With nine to go the caution flag came out
setting up a thrilling finish.
Romano got off of
the line with a tremendous restart while Brock battled hard for
second place. Brock broke free for second on lap 34 and tried to
reel in Romano.
Romano managed to
maintain a nearly one second advantage over Brock as they ripped
past the checkered flag for the satisfying 1-2 run, with teammates
Trevor Cristiani and Aaron Higgins finishing sixth and 11th
respectably as well.
With the win,
Romano moves into fourth in the track points standings with Brock
continuing his solid third place season. Brock has had a perfect
record of top-ten finishes in his first season running Modifieds on
the West Coast.
"This 1-2 finish
is one of the highlights in the short history of our NASCAR Modified
Team. We have won three of the last five races since ex-Busch crew
chief Scott Rodgers came on board," Team Owner Ron Sutton said.
"Nik and Josh are two great young drivers and we are fortunate to
have them behind the wheel of our Modifieds. I expect more
successes this season with our team!"
The RSWC Modified
team will take a few weeks off before returning to action later this
month at
Roseville.
